There is a broader context. Note the rise of knowledge management (KM) since about 1990, the impact of the Web on legal practice and other enterprises since about the mid-1990s, and the apparent escalating need since 2004 for greater productivity in data classification and use by knowledge workers. KM for example is reflected in the lightbulb posts here, here, here, here, and here.
In that context I encourage you to use the lighbulb index below and this Website's backend functionality:
Overall site search | Library downloads page | Library-specific search | Add Comments.
The above photo is of Melvil Dewey, developer of the Dewey Decimal System in the 1880s. The Dewey System is a proprietary library classification system. It is protected under trade mark law, as well as copyright law as it has undergone 22 major revisions, the most recent in 2004. Since that year indexing systems for data have escalated. Google has grown, as have its competitors, and with them new terms for indexing have arisen created by The Wisdom of Crowds . There is tagonomy, folksonomy, bottom-up taxonomies, user-generated tagging etc.
