Special Counsel

Anton Joseph's commercial law career spans over 20 years, a wide breadth of businesses, and legal practice in Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East. Throughout, his focus has been on investment and taxation law, complemented by his knowledge of mathematics.

Anton has held corporate counsel and private practice positions. His corporate counsel positions have included roles involving regular drafting and advice work for corporate, investment and taxation compliance (income taxation, GST, FBT and stamp duty law), financial services law, insurance law and contracts administration.

The intricate and fast developing laws on taxation and GST have been Anton's special area of interest.

Anton has published extensively in Australia and abroad on subjects ranging from taxation, cross border investment, VAT & GST, corporations law, venture capital, IFRS and its impact on investment and taxation. Anton is currently a member of the Editorial Board of "Derivatives and Financial Instruments" published by the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation ("IBFD") in the Netherlands.

Anton was the New Zealand contributing author for "OECD Model Tax Convention on Income and on Capital and Key Tax Features of Member Countries- 2005". He recently updated the tax and investment laws of New Zealand for IBFD and is currently working on the New Zealand tax laws in relation to intellectual property. Anton is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning with the Financial Services Institute of Australia.
